Every year, the Earth is devastated by tens of thousands of fires, causing the destruction of millions of hectares of tree cover worldwide. These fires are a threat not only to forests and wildlife reserves, but also to the people living in the affected areas. In this context, it is crucial to be able to detect the occurrence of new fires and their development at an early stage, including through real time reports from on-site users.

what does it do?

Our system proposes to implement an international protocol for fire reporting and data processing in order to achieve maximum accuracy and rapid identification of fires.

in particular searches on Google nowadays provide results coming from non-governmental and unofficial bodies, the aim is to facilitate interaction between citizens and authorities for rapid and efficient reporting. At the same time, in our platform we have a merge between data provided by satellite and reports from users with which to create estimates of the danger and speed of expansion of fires.

how does it work?

Through a list of questions or simple data provided by the user (estimated distance from the fire, what is burning and any photos) the algorithm can create an estimate of the size and location of the fire. By combining this information with other reports, the algorithm is able to assign risk categories.

Each category is associated with a safety protocol to follow. through SMS broadcasting technology (in particular IT alert in Italy) the authorities will be able to give the green light to instant notification to the population of the affected area.
